BIO:

The Yellow Springs Film Festival is a celebration of creativity, connection and innovative performances exhibiting narrative and documentary feature films, shorts of all genres, stand up comedy and live music. The festival takes place annually, the first weekend in October at the historic Little Art Theatre, The Foundry Theater at Antioch College and WYSO Radio HQ. To celebrate film events throughout the year, every April YSFF hosts 'Mini-Fest', a showcase of exciting new films and guest speakers.

YSFF values art in all forms, diversity and dialogue. Past headlining speakers / performers include Jim Jarmusch, Fred Armisen, John Waters, Raekwon and RZA (Wu-Tang Clan), Reggie Watts, Kevin Smith, Steve Zahn, Nadia Conners, Walton Goggins, Leila Conners, Hannah Beachler, Sam Green, Steven Bognar, Gary Hustwit, Bill & Turner Ross and Nelson George.

YSFF is dedicated to championing independent cinema and uplifting emerging filmmakers, with a special focus on inspiring the next generation of directors and creators. We serve our community by offering free educational seminars, events, and film screenings -open to the public or discounted for students -while recognizing excellence through initiatives such as the $3,000 Julia Reichert Award for an emerging female documentarian. Through publicly accessible submissions on FilmFreeway and partnerships with local businesses and community advocates, YSFF showcases diverse voices and programming that celebrate artists, strengthen our region, and foster an inclusive, vibrant film and arts culture.

Located in southwest Ohio, Yellow Springs is a creative community with a bustling and walkable downtown village as well as accessible hiking trails. The village is also conveniently located within an hour drive to three major cities / airports (Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati).
